Municipal Bonds for America (MBFA) 2016 End of Year Report

In 2016, the Municipal Bonds for America (MBFA) Coalition increased its advocacy efforts as tax reform discussions became an increasing focus on the campaign trail and Capitol Hill. As Washington enters into a new congress, the MBFA will continue to educate the Administration and Congress on the reasons why municipal bonds will always be the simplest and most effective means of financing our nation’s core infrastructure and other essential projects.

Background

The BDA was instrumental in forming the MBFA Coalition in 2010 by uniting interested organizations who came together to establish a platform for our discussions in Washington in support of maintaining the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds.  Comprised with over 30 supporting organizations, the MBFA Coalition remains a leading voice, highlighting the importance of the tax-exemption to finance vital infrastructure at the lowest cost to state and local communities. The MBFA is chaired by Mayor Steve Benjamin, Columbia, SC.
